What are Digital Hearing Aids?
Today, all hearing aids purchased at Alamance ENT are fully digital. Unlike the traditional analog hearing aids, digital hearing aids not only amplify but also digitally convert sound waves to produce an exact duplication of the sound in which it is picking up. Digital technology is available from economy to premium. Your audiologist will discuss all technology levels with you during your Hearing Aid Evaluation.
In addition, Alamance ENT offers a 30-day evaluation period to ensure your satisfaction. Discuss any issues or concerns you have with your audiologist to help you find the right fit for you.
How Much Do Hearing Aids Cost?
The cost of your hearing aid depends on the features inside. The better the hearing aid performs in noise, generally the more expensive it is. Insurance coverage pays a big role in the cost of your hearing aids. Without any benefits, hearing aids range from $1400 - $3400. However, many Medicare Advantage plans and private insurers offer some coverage or discounts. Our patient care coordinator will contact your insurance carrier and determine your benefits.
Do I Need Two Hearing Aids?
In general, most people experience hearing loss in both ears. If there is no medical reason that would prevent you from wearing two hearing aids, then amplification in both ears (binaural amplification) will likely be recommended. Your physician and audiologist will make this recommendation based on your hearing test results.
