Austin S. Rose, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.R.S.
Dr. Rose specializes in Rhinology, Allergy & Sinus Surgery and Pediatric Otolaryngology. He is originally from Ontario, Canada where his father Arnold E. Rose, MD was a family physician well known for delivering the great hockey player Wayne Gretzky.
He attended Duke University and then the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill for medical school where he was first introduced to ENT by Dr. Chapman McQueen. He completed his residency training as well at the University of North Carolina. After a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Dr. Rose served on faculty for over 20 years at the UNC Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, ultimately as a Professor and the Vice Chair of Finance.
While at UNC, Dr. Rose was a Course Director of the annual Newton D. Fischer Society Scientific Meeting as well as the Founder (in 2008) and first Director of the Pediatric Otolaryngology Fellowship Program. He is proud of his service at UNC where he remains an Emeritus Professor.
Dr. Rose is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society. His professional interests also include innovation and entrepreneurship, finance, and medical device development. He completed his MBA with a concentration in Finance and Leadership Distinction at the Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2019.
Dr. Rose enjoys spending time with his family – he and his wife Jessica have one son, currently in elementary school. In his free time, he loves to play guitar, read, and do his best at D-league ice hockey in the Triangle Adult Hockey League in Hillsborough.
